Shaw

This is my 2nd attempt at writing, as the internet connection went kaput just as I pressed the publish post botton. Skunks.
We went to the Shaw Festival in Niagra-on-the-Lake. We haven't been here since 9/11. We saw Arms and the Man, and a Cole Porter musical High Society, based on the Philedelphia Story. After 6 heavy Stratford shows, these 2 were a treat.
So we finish our orgy of 8 shows in 2 companies in 1 week. I feel saturated.
The best of the bunch was Ghosts.
Now we are Niagra falls. Ever been on the Canadian side of the Falls? What a tourist trap! Every tacky thing is here.
Tomorrow we fly home to Phoenix, and back to the Salt Mines.

Cole Porter...no better way to end a vacation! Light, happy and a wit to kill!

I'm so glad you had a great vacation even if it was a short one. Try to enjoy what little time you have left before returning to work.

I've been to the Canadian side, but that was long ago. I think I remember thinking it was a lot cleaner than Buffalo - but then again, I was a kid. By the way, I always write posts in Word, then post it to Blogger in case it's being bitchy. Glad you're having a good time and have a safe trip home.

It's tragic if the Canadian side has been turned into a tourist trap. I have not been there in years but I remember long ago the Canadian side was SO much cleaner and nicer than the American side. There were not so many "traps", the gardens were immaculate (flower clock, etc.), the people were super nice. So tragic when they paved paradise and put up a parking lot (or in this case another trap). On out last trip there were did do a side to Niagra-on-the-Lake. We did not see plays, but, at the time at least, I thought it to be a charming delightful town.

Have a safe and enjoyable flight!

I have been on the Canadian side - around '86...it was beautiful then. I remember lots of tulips planted everywhere. I also went on the Maid of the Mist = we had huge yellow slickers on. Very fun.

I love Cole Porter! I'm sure you are having fun. Have a safe trip back to Phoenix...we kept it warm for you :)

I vacationed in the canadian side of niagra falls and we left early it was such a nightmare. Well.. that and because they screwed up our hotel reservations so we had to sleep with my dad and he snores loud enough to wake the dead.

One should NEVER leave the Niagra area without stopping at the Welland Canal and watching the freighters. Buy a small chocolate cone at the Lock 3 viewing area. Pat freighters'hulls as they leave Lock 7.
